Kate Beckinsale follows the Zone Diet to get her amazing figure

Filming high action scenes in a skin tight catsuit could be a daunting prospect for anyone, so it’s no wonder Kate Beckinsale follows a strict diet and exercise regime to achieve her incredible figure in the Underworld film series.

The 38-year-old worked with trainer Ramona Braganza on a 3-2-1 training method using cardio, circuits and core work for her toned physique, but what does she eat?

Braganza said: ‘She’s very specific about what she’ll eat, and with good reason.

‘When working strange hours, it’s imperative to get foods that feel right when your body clock is out of kilter. Kate follows a zone-structured diet, which works on the theory that you need the perfect balance of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in every meal to help balance blood sugar levels and make your body burn fat more efficiently.’

The Underworld star usually eats eggs or oats for breakfast during filming, a vegetable or chicken wrap for lunch, then fish and veg for dinner. She doesn’t give up on all her treats though.

‘I’m not aiming to be Gisele,’ admits Kate, ‘I’d hate to be one of those people who won’t allow themselves a slice of birthday cake.’

Here’s what you can expect to eat in a typical day on the Zone diet.

Breakfast:

Eggs or oats

Lunch:

Vegetable or chicken wrap

Dinner:

Fish and vegetables

Snacks:

Two snacks a day including fruit with cottage cheese or turkey with strawberries and peanuts.

The key is to ensure all meals and snacks follow a ratio of 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 30% fats.
